If your activity data isn’t syncing from Health Connect to Motion Connected, follow the steps below to check your connection and learn why active minutes may look different in Motion Connected.
1. Verify that activity tracking is turned on in Motion Connected
- Open the Motion Connected app.
- Tap the three dots on the bottom navigation bar to open the menu.
- Tap Settings.
- Confirm that "Enable Activity Tracking" and "Automatic Activity Upload" are toggled on.
To check if your activity data has updated, go to the Dashboard by tapping the icon on the bottom navigation bar.
2. Open Health Connect
- Open the Settings app on your Android device.
- Scroll down and tap on Security & Privacy.
- Select Privacy Controls.
- Tap on Health Connect.
Tip: You can also search for Health Connect in your phone settings if you don't see these menu options.
3. Verify that settings in Health Connect are correct
- Return to the home page in Health Connect.
- Select the app you use to track activity. If you don't see it, tap 'See more health apps', then select the app from the list.
- Verify that the app has permission to write steps (and speed and distance if available) to Health Connect or has the "Allow all" option turned on.
Motion Connected needs steps, speed, and distance data to calculate active minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why are my active minutes in Motion Connected different from what my device or fitness app (such as Google Fit or Samsung Health) shows?
Health Connect does not currently share active minute data from other apps or devices, but it does share other metrics, such as steps, speed, and distance. Motion Connected can use that information to estimate your active minutes. Because these minutes are estimated, the number shown in Motion Connected may be lower than the number shown on your activity device or fitness app.
Not all devices share the information needed to estimate active minutes through Health Connect. Even when active minutes aren't available, your synced steps can still count toward your daily activity goal, if your program offers one.
- How do I sync my activity data from Health Connect to my Motion Connected account?
With the Health Connect connection enabled, any new activity data available from the last 30 days will sync each time you open the Motion Connected app.
If the app is open in the background on your phone, data will update every hour. Data does not sync while the Motion Connected app is closed.
- My Samsung Galaxy watch still isn't syncing to Motion Connected – what else can I do?
If you’ve tried the steps above, we recommend taking these additional steps to ensure that the necessary permissions are also enabled in your Samsung Health app.
1. Check the Google PlayStore to ensure your Samsung Health app is up to date and download any updates if available.
2. Open the Samsung Health app on your phone and go to the Settings (3 dots > Settings).
3. Verify that "Sync with Samsung Cloud" (or "Sync with Samsung Account") and "Consent to the processing of health and wellness data" (under Privacy) are toggled on.
